Jeremy Basso started his day as many dads do, but on this day, he made one particular decision that he would not be able to escape.  He dressed his daughter for daycare.  He confidently chose an outfit he thought was adorable on his baby girl, but neglected to include one crucial element of clothing that no girl leaves the house without:  a shirt.  At 7-months-old, little Olivia was about to commit one of the biggest fashion faux pas thanks to Dad.

When Mom came to pick up their daughter from daycare, she was missing a shirt.  She described the funny encounter to TODAY Parents, saying,

“I had no idea she was dressed like that until I picked her up [from daycare]…  I thought perhaps she spilled out of her diaper and maybe they removed the shirt that I assumed she was brought in.”

That’s when she realized the truth, she continued,

“our provider just laughed and said, ‘No, Jeremy brought her in like that, and we just thought OK. We all just laughed about it.”

Brooke’s experience gave her such a tickle that she decided to share the photo and the text message chain with her husband.  Family and friends got such a kick out of it that she later shared it on Facebook.  Well, it didn’t take long for the post to go viral.  In fact, moms all over started sharing their funny daddy outfit malfunctions, too (you can check them out in the comments). The whole thing has given the Internet a hearty laugh, and it is easy to see why!

This past Saturday at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York, #BlackGirlMagic was abound!

The annual festival is sponsored by the five women of Curly Girl Collective. Curly Group Collective is a marketing group specializing in multicultural beauty. Their goal is to celebrate women all around the world by appreciating their natural looks.

Tracey Coleman, the director of events at Curlfest, stated in a press conference, “Curlfest was founded on the idea of you all needing to be celebrated. If you look around, and you see images of beauty, they don’t necessarily look like us.”

When Coleman was asked about the natural hair movement, she said, “The great thing about the movement now is that barrier is being broken down; there’s no good hair and there’s no bad hair. Healthy hair is what’s good, so that’s what we’re here to promote.”

Deshauna Barbe spent her childhood moving from army base to army base. Born into a military family, Deshauna joined the military at 17 years old.

At the time, Deshauna had no idea that she would be the first woman in the country to win the title of MissUSA while on active duty.

Deshauna entered the pageant world at 19 years old. Over the next few years, she make a name for herself in the beauty queen scene while simultaneously serving in the U.S. Army. She also completed her MSc in Computer Information Systems at the University of Maryland. On top of all that, she was serving as an IT Analyst for the U.S. Department of Commerce.

She wants to let the world know that beauty is meant to be celebrated in all of its diverse forms. And although we’ve come a long way, we still have a ways to go. Deshauna is proving that women can fight for their country and look good in a swimsuit at the same time. She did a lot of work with soldiers who suffered from PTSD.

In an interview, Deshauna said, “In the past I have been very hard on myself about certain parts of my body, but I try to always remind myself that I was given this body and to remain positive.”

And her views on beauty are awesome:

“Beauty to me means more than something physical, and it’s definitely represented internally. I think beauty is about the way you treat others, being a humble and kind person that respects everyone. I think that really represents beauty.”

She says she enjoys the fact that she can show how multifaceted women are – there is both a tough side and a feminine side within us. Hopefully society will continue to challenge its beauty ideals by showing forms of beauty that aren’t necessarily considered ‘mainstream.’

Deshauna plans to continue serving as an inspiration to women all over the world.

“I hope to continue what I am doing to help impact people around the world — particularly young girls and women,” she says. “I plan to never stop working to positively impact their lives by motivating them to always follow their dreams.”

During her performance Sunday at the One Love Manchester benefit concert, Katy Perry gave an emotional speech to the crowd of 60,000 people.

“It’s not easy to always choose love, is it? Especially in moments like these, right? It can be the most difficult thing to do. But love conquers fear, love conquers hate,” she said. “And this love that you choose will give you strength. It’s our greatest power.”

Then, she asked the crowd to participate in a “little exercise in love.” She explained, “Just touch the next person, touch a person next to you. Make human contact. Tell them ‘I love you.’ Look in their eyes. Say ‘I love you.’ Do it. Everyone out there, everyone at home. I encourage you to choose love even when it’s difficult. Let no one take that away from you.”
