Leave it to the Internet to keep you honest.  Had numerous people on social media not pointed out the similarities between Ed Sheeran’s hit, “Shape Of You,” and TLC’s “No Scrubs” the industry may have turned a blind eye to this whole debacle.  But thankfully, they noticed, commented and the following group made a mash-up cover that takes out all the guesswork.

Watch the video below and the similarities will almost jump out at you.

Then to further implicate this whole fiasco on Ed Sheeran’s side, his team quickly made a change to the copyright by adding the writers of TLC’s “No Scrubs” to the credits.  Although, Ed Sheeran and his co-writers Steve Mac and Johnny McDaid (of Snow Patrol) were the sole names that appeared on the song’s original copyright, they have since expanded the credits.  They’ve added the writers to the ASCAP’s website, listing them as part of the song.  Now, Kandi Burruss, Tameka Cottle and producer Kevin Briggs are all cited.

Tameka Cottle took to Instagram to confirm.

First, she posted this clip of her dancing to the Ed Sheeran hit, while in Mexico:

Then she followed the above Instagram post with the following screenshot from Twitter:

Although, this seems to have been resolved, Ed Sheeran has had a few other issues with copyrights, and has even been sued.  Even though Ed Sheeran and his team didn’t release a statement about this, their actions were more than meaningful.
