Aliyah Davis, a woman from Connecticut who lied about having cancer, has been sentenced to more than two years in prison.

On Monday, a federal judge in New Haven sentenced her to 30 months. She pled guilty to multiple charges including aggravated identity theft and wire fraud.

The Richard C. Lee courthouse in New Haven, Conn.

David lied about the cancer in order to avoid reporting to prison on a fraud conviction.

In late 2014, Davis was sentenced to four years in prison for fraud. At the time, she was known as Theresa Sutherland. Authorities have reported that Davis engaged in an identity theft scheme at the insurance company she worked for.

Davis forged the signature of several medical professionals when she wrote multiple letters to the prosecutors detailing her condition. She was granted postponements of when she was required to report to prison.

Prosecutors say she changed her name to Aliyah Davis and then committed unemployment compensation fraud.

In court, Davis’s lawyer said that she survived a rough childhood and managed to become successful; but she needs both counseling and substance abuse treatment. The judge ordered that she begins serving her sentence after she completes her previous one.

Her lawyer said he believed a fair sentence would be adding 12 to 18 months of prison time to the original sentence of four years. However, the 36-year-old will serve an additional 30 months.

What do you think about the outcome of Davis’s trial?

Delta Airlines Sued for $10 Million due to Groping and Masturabation on Flight

According to MLive, Rhonda Costigan is suing Delta for $10 million after an incident while on a flight from Myrtle Beach, SC to Detroit, MI in July 2016. Ms. Costigan reports that a man named Christopher Finkley groped her and behaved inappropriately while intoxicated aboard the flight.  Costigan claims Finkley left his assigned seat and positioned himself in the seat next to her.

She claims he rubbed her thighs and tried to place his hand up her shorts. Allegedly, flight crew was aware of this incident and did nothing to stop him while Costigan sat “frozen in terror,” as MLive reports she described in a press conference on Tuesday.

Costigan’s attorney, Jerry Acker, says, “What they should’ve done, after they found out he’s masturbating and exposing himself in first class and the stewardess went to the cabin and told the pilot, who radioed ahead to call the police. They should’ve taken the flight attendants and monitored that man and not allowed that predator to run through the cabin.”

MLive reports that Finkley continued to masturbate upon returning to his seat for landing preparations. CBS reports that Finkley told FBI agents that touching himself is his “happy place.” Finkley originally claimed that the zipper of his shorts must have malfunctioned until additional passengers confirmed that they had witnessed him openly masturbating.

CBS reports that Costigan was offered $2,500 in travel vouchers by the airline as compensation.  Finkley reportedly was jailed for a week in March and given a fine for indecent exposure and simple assault, MLive reports.

Delta’s statement on the incident reads that “The safety and security of our customers and employees is always Delta’s top priority.”

A Black Wonder Woman is Coming to the Big Screen

With Black Panther coming out in February of next year, fans are pretty hyped about Wonder Woman’s twin sister, Nubia.

According to the DC Comics lore, Nubia was made in 1973 from the same clay that was used to make Diana. The only difference was that hers was black.

Nubia was created by the goddess Aphrodite. The backstory gets a bit crazy. At birth, Nubia was stolen by Mars, the god of war. He trained her to master the practice of hand-to-hand combat. When she was introduced in Wonder Woman Vol. 1#204, she Beat Diana in battle but stopped fighting when she met her sister at sword point.

In the latest DC edition, Nubia portrays the Wonder Woman of Earth-23. But aside from having superpowers, she also served as the sole guardian of the River Styx, which depicts hell, and Floating Island, which is a community of all men.

Twitter is already pretty demanding that Nubia gets a role on the big screen. Some Twitter users are getting extreme – a few have already planned directing and casting roles. One suggestion was the Serena Williams play the lead, with Ava DuVernay directing. Others suggested Angela Bassett as the lead. Clearly, there are lots of people excited to hit the big screen.

Last month, much to Twitter users’ delight, it was announced that the movie actually would happen!

Lately, DC has been battling at the box office with Marvel Studies. The Averngers universe movies, which began in 2008 with Iron Man, have given Marvel mainstream success.

But with the Nubia movie in the not-so-far future, Marvel is sure to have some challenging competition!
