Two Scottish women, Janice Manzur and her daughter Amber, say that they’d rather be fat than give up their government benefits. They’re “proud” to be overweight and hope to never have to support themselves without assistance.
Janie, 44, and Amber, 25, are totally unapologetic for scamming the welfare system. They have no shame whatsoever.
According to one website, the mother and daughter’s combined weight is 603 pounds. They both use mobility scooter to get around, as they’re too overweight to walk. Renovations even had to be made in their home to accommodate their size.
Janice was employed until 2006, when she had to retire due to her health. That’s when they started receiving public assistance benefits. Combined, they receive about $51,00 per year, most of which is welfare.
Janice says, “I’ve always been big and I’m too fat to work, so I have a genuine disability. I should be miserable but I’m happy. I know this is the way I’m meant to be.”
Her daughter Amber lives a few houses down from Janice, and chooses to drive the 50 yards to get to her house rather than walk. She says, “People shouldn’t judge me or my mum for how big we are because it’s in our genes.”
A neighbor stated, “The amount of benefits they get is ridiculous. My views are people like that should have their benefits cut. It will fall to the National Health Service to pay for treatment.”
Clearly, neither Janice nor Amber has any interest in trying to improve their health. Janice says, “I’d rather my daughter [and I] live life fat and happy than depressed and thin.”
