Coming to your screens soon, ‘Colin In Black & White‘ is a Netflix scripted series developed by When They See Us writer, Ava Duvernay and ex-NFL player, Colin Kaepernick based on the early life of the former San Francisco 49ers football player.

The series, set in the high school years of Kaepernick, will explore themes such as race and self-discovery within six episodes which just might give the audience some insight into how a black child adopted by white parents would later grow into a football star that would kneel during the national anthem to protest racial injustice and police brutality.
“With his act of protest, Colin Kaepernick ignited a national conversation about race and justice with far-reaching consequences for football, culture and for him, personally,” says DuVernay, via The Hollywood Reporter.
“Colin’s story has much to say about identity, sports, and the enduring spirit of protest and resilience. I couldn’t be happier than to tell this story with the team at Netflix,” she added.
“Too often we see race and Black stories portrayed through a white lens,” said Kaepernick. “We seek to give new perspective to the differing realities that Black people face. We explore the racial conflicts I faced as an adopted Black man in a white community, during my high school years. It’s an honor to bring these stories to life in collaboration with Ava for the world to see.”
Streaming on Netflix, Colin In Black & White is produced by Ava DuVernay and written by Michael Starrbury.
