So many people advocate for affirmations, but why? According to Psychology Today, “affirmations are used to reprogram the subconscious mind. [They help] encourage us to believe certain things about ourselves or about the world and our place within it.” In addition, it says that affirmations help us create and attract the things we want in our lives. This is because affirmations play a huge role in our ability to manifest our desires.
What we believe on a subconscious level can have a huge affect on the outcome of events. On the most basic level of understanding, affirmations can help us feel good about ourselves. They can also help us have a positive mental attitude, which usually helps us have better, happier lives.
It all stems down from the law of attraction. When we think positively, we feel positively, and then we create a positive vibration. That energy in turn creates positivity in our lives, attracting the same types of things back into our space. This results in positive things like wealth, health, abundance and so much more. All those things begin to be drawn to us.
But what is a good affirmation, and how can we make certain we’re doing it right?
Whether based on inspiration, or on the idea of reminding us of something inherent in us, an affirmation is a clear (and many time concise) statement that makes a big impact. What’s the guideline? First, they must be written in the first person. Second, they are ALWAYS positive. Third, they insight some type of emotion. And fourth, they are most always spoken in the present tense.
