Old Hollywood Inspired Looks From The Met Gala That We’re Absolutely OBSESSED With

model

The Met Gala is always one of the most anticipated events of the year. But now that the world is bouncing back form a worldwide pandemic, in-person red carpet events are making a huge comeback with a vengeance. Since they had to skip the Met Gala entirely in 2020, everyone has been amped for celebrities to show up and show out for this year’s theme. As Andrew Bolton explained to Vogue, the Met Gala’s theme has two parts. The first part is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” and the second part is “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.”

One way to interpret these ideas is to channel some of the most influential figures in American history. While some of the looks were a little out there, we have to say that a couple of celebrities were spot on. Jennifer Lopez paid homage to the western cowboy and days of yesteryear, while Amanda Gorman alluded to one of America’s most prominent images, the Statue of Liberty.

Other stars decided to go with a more classic interpretation of the theme, taking inspiration from Old Hollywood. Watch below as the likes of Iman, Megan Fox, Jennifer Hudson and more, show us their take on some of the most classic and iconic looks of the era. Keep an eye out for the inspiration behind each Met Gala look, and how each was interpreted by the respective celebs.
