Lizzo Talks Back to Body Shamers: ‘I am Beautiful’

Beyond her obvious talent, Lizzo is knowing for sharing a more spectacular gift with the world the power of self love. Since her step into the limelight, the plus-size star has been an ongoing recipient of barrages of insults, harsh judgment and fat shaming. Yet, she loves herself through it all.

Yesterday, the Truth Hurts singer posted a workout video talking back to fat shamers with a few choice words of her own. Weight watchers and body shamers aplenty but they will never bring her down. The video is a montage of clips from different workout days of Lizzo, per her usual style, looking good as hell. She had an important message for all the shamers in words so strong that we might have to begin reciting them for our own use.

Lizzo said, “Hey, so I’ve been working out consistently for the last five years, and it may come as a surprise to some of y’all that I’m not working out to have your ideal body type.” She went on, “I’m working out to have my ideal body type, and you know what type that is? None of your f**king business, because I am beautiful, I am strong, I do my job and I stay on my job.”

Tell ’em, girl!

The Juice singer continued, “So, next time you wanna come to somebody and judge them for whether they drink kale smoothies or eat McDonald’s or workout or not workout, how ‘bout you look at your own fucking self and worry about your own goddamn body?”

She proceeded to remind everyone that health should be monitored inwardly as much as it is watched outwardly saying, “Because health is not just determined about what you look like on the outside health is also what happens on the inside and a lot of y’all need to do a f**king cleanse to your insides.” The clap-back, whew.

Lizzo never misses an opportunity to remind us that no matter what, we should appreciate our bodies. By always being present for herself, she has taught us how to be there for ourselves. Naysayers can scream whatever but at the end of the day, you should love you.
