Duchess Meghan Shares Never-Before-Seen Photos of Son Prince Archie for His 7th Birthday

Reported by Harper's Bazaar.

Duchess Meghan doesn't flood our feeds with personal content — which is exactly why, when she does post, it lands. On May 6, the As Ever founder marked Prince Archie's seventh birthday with a two-photo Instagram drop that was equal parts intimate and intentional.

The first image is a newborn moment: Prince Harry flat in bed, gray tee, slacks, with a days-old Archie asleep on his chest under a white blanket. It's the kind of photo most families keep in a private album forever. The second is recent — two kids walking a beach from behind, anonymous enough to feel protective but warm enough to feel like a gift. Archie, all ginger hair and black shirt, is unmistakably his father's son. Beside him, Princess Lilibet in a white tee and black shorts, her hair just as red. "7 years later…happy birthday to our sweet boy 🤍" Meghan wrote in the caption. Simple. No elaboration needed.

From Windsor to California

According to Harper's Bazaar, Archie was born May 6, 2019, in London — at the time, Harry and Meghan were still operating as senior royals. Meghan did the post-birth portrait tradition, though characteristically on her own terms: the photo was taken at St George's Hall in Windsor Castle rather than the standard hospital steps moment. Just over a year later, the Sussexes stepped back from royal duties, relocated to California, and eventually welcomed Lilibet — who, based on that beach photo, appears to be keeping pace with her big brother just fine.

What makes this post resonate isn't access or spectacle. It's the deliberate curation of two moments — one brand new, one years old — that together say something about how a family measures time. Meghan has made protecting her children's image a consistent priority since long before the move stateside. A glimpse of two kids walking the beach, faces turned away, is still a glimpse. It's carefully considered visibility, and it works.

Seven years in, the boy born into one of the world's most scrutinized institutions is just a kid at the beach with his little sister — and his mother is choosing exactly how much of that we get to see.
