The White Lotus Season 4: A Complete Guide to What We Know So Far
Helena Bonham Carter, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka and more join the new cast

Reported by Harper's Bazaar.
The White Lotus is coming back—and it's trading tropical resort chaos for the glittering hell of the French Riviera. According to Harper's Bazaar, HBO has confirmed season four will unfold during the Cannes Film Festival, with filming happening across Cannes, St. Tropez, and Monaco. The new guests will inhabit two properties: the Airelles Château de la Messardière (posing as White Lotus du Cap) and the Hôtel Martinez (White Lotus Cannes). Because apparently, no amount of mysterious deaths can deter the wealthy from booking their next getaway.
The casting alone is worth the wait. The roster reads like someone threw darts at a wall of A-listers: Max Greenfield, Kumail Nanjiani, Vincent Cassel, Sandra Bernhard, Steve Coogan, Heather Graham, Chris Messina, Rosie Perez, Ben Schnetzer, and AJ Michalka are all confirmed. The real headline, though, is Laura Dern stepping in after Helena Bonham Carter exited. Dern brings serious pedigree—she previously worked with creator Mike White on the HBO series Enlightened and voiced a character in season two. She's expected to play a fresh role White is currently writing for her, which suggests the dream team has something genuinely interesting brewing.
The Sound of Chaos Will Feel Different
Here's where things get messy. Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, the Emmy-winning composer behind The White Lotus's iconic theme and its anxiety-inducing soundscapes, won't be returning. In an interview with the New York Times, Tapia de Veer revealed that creative differences with White became irreconcilable—specifically over season three's redesigned theme, which ditched the beloved "ooh-loo-loo-loo" melody that defined the first two seasons. Tapia de Veer said fans were justifiably furious about the change, noting that an uncut version actually included the signature moment White ultimately cut. He's since posted the full version on YouTube, but the split signals that season four will sound like an entirely different beast.
Don't expect to see this unfold anytime soon. With production beginning in 2026, the earliest we're likely watching new episodes is late 2026 or 2027—which means plenty of time to obsess over casting announcements and soundtrack drama.
The White Lotus keeps betting that luxury settings and gorgeous people can't hide the rot underneath, and the French Riviera is the perfect sandbox for that particular game.
