Princess Eugenie Kicks Off Her New Era of Maternity Fashion in a Little Black Dress and Silky Red Duster

Reported by Harper's Bazaar.

Pregnancy announcements are one thing. Showing up in a body-conscious minidress days later is another. Princess Eugenie — newly confirmed to be expecting her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank — made her first post-announcement public appearance at Oswald's, a private members' club in London's Mayfair, and she was not playing it safe.

According to Harper's Bazaar, Eugenie wore a stretchy, figure-hugging black minidress from Club Monaco — cut-off sleeves, pointelle hem detail — paired with black pumps and a Tanner Krolle Annabel mini vanity case. Classic date-night energy, but the real move was the layer on top: a floor-length silky duster in vermillion from Galvan that immediately repositioned the whole look from simple to considered. She finished with mushroom-shaped gold earrings from Sophie Lis, which is exactly the kind of whimsical detail that earns a look a second look.

The Formula Has Precedent

This isn't Eugenie improvising. The LBD-plus-bold-duster combination is one she's returned to before — most memorably at the 2018 premiere of Sharkwater Extinction — and the Galvan coat specifically has been in rotation long enough that Princess Beatrice borrowed it to try the formula herself. When your sister steals your coat, you've done something right.

Baby Brooksbank is due in 2026, joining older brothers August and Ernest, and Eugenie announced the news the way royals do it now: an Instagram caption loaded with heart emojis and a photo of two small boys clutching an ultrasound scan. Sweet, but the fashion story has already begun — and if this first outing is any indication, she has no intention of disappearing into oversized knitwear until spring.

Maternity dressing at its best is refusal to shrink — and Eugenie is starting this chapter exactly where she left off.
