Rapper Tory Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, has been charged in connection with a shooting similar to what Megan Thee Stallion accused him of.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office announced on Thursday that the 28-year-old rapper has been charged with one felony count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He also faces a gun allegation and that he personally inflicted great bodily injury.
Lanez is scheduled to be appear before the court to give his plea on October 13. If Lanez is convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in state prison.
Records revealed that Lanez sent an apology text to Megan saying, “I was just too drunk.” While the news of the shooting spread since July, Megan did not confirm Tory Lanez actually shot her in her feet until an Instagram Live on August 20th.
