But the best thing about owning extraordinary objects is actually using them, and Lawrence's latest dinner outing proved she understands this completely.
Spotted in New York City with her husband, art dealer Cooke Maroney, Lawrence kept her wardrobe deliberately minimal: flowy black trousers, a long black coat, a scarf, and strappy heeled sandals. The kind of effortless, all-black uniform that exists specifically to let one thing do all the talking.
The Bag Did the Talking
That thing was the Veil — a London-based label co-founded by model Adwoa Aboah and designer Georgie Wright. According to Harper's Bazaar, the piece Lawrence carried is a red-and-pink ombré bag constructed on a rectangular red satin base and finished with cascading rows of hand-embroidered glass bead tassels. An Art Deco-inspired crystal chain serves as the handle. Flapper energy, maximalist execution, completely hand-stitched. Against a head-to-toe black backdrop, it didn't just pop — it commanded.
The timing of the dinner has a certain romantic logic to it: the outing fell roughly a week before Lawrence and Maroney's eighth wedding anniversary. The couple married on October 19, 2019, and have since had two sons — Cy, born in 2022, and Louie, born in early 2025. A late-night dinner for two, a showstopper bag — sometimes the occasion makes the accessory, and sometimes the accessory makes the occasion.
